A man on Tuesday chopped off his pregnant daughter-in-law’s nose and hair and caused several wounds to her arms and legs, police and witnesses said.
Riasat Ali, a neighbour, said Bashir Ahmad, 50, had tried to rape his pregnant daughter-in-law Atiyya Bibi. He saw Bashir attack Attiya from the roof of his house. He said several people were attracted by her shouting and tried to stop Bashir who managed to flee from the scene.
Rescue 1122 officials were called and took the injured woman to Allied Hospital.
Dr Ghulam Rasool of the emergency ward said that the victim was badly injured in the attack and her arms, legs and face bore serious wounds.
Mansoorabad SHO said, “The police have not received a formal complaint.
We can only take action after receipt of a complaint and the medical examination report.”
