Ongoing turf war: Two men killed in Lyari violence

Police said the victim belonged to the Kutchi community and was killed by rival group members in the ongoing turf war.

Two members of the Kutchi community in Lyari were killed on Tuesday while over half a dozen others suffered injuries in separate incidents, as the entire neighbourhood echoed with gunfire and explosions.


Usman Ghani, 35, son of Suleman, suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot when unidentified men opened fire on him in Agra Taj Colony. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, for an autopsy. Police officials said that victim belonged to the Kutchi community and was killed by rival group members in the ongoing turf war.

Another man belonging to the Kutchi community, Yaqoob Kutchi, was shot dead in the Hingorabad area of Lyari. Meanwhile, Mushtaq Ahmed, 38, was wounded in firing in Bihar Colony. Separately, about half a dozen people were wounded in a hand grenade attack in Mandara Mohalla, Lyari. The injured included Ibrahim, Waqas and Younus.

Kutchi Rabita Committee leader Hussain Kutchi claimed the affiliations of the victims to his party.

The men were attacked by Lyari gangsters, he alleged, adding that Lyari gangsters had resumed violent activities in the Kutchi-dominated areas after the Rangers killed Saqib Boxer.

@SyedPk waste of time, the Pti trolls sniffs news relating to MQM. for them blame everything on MQM....remember all these trolls did not just fall into PTI from SKY- they are all ex-Jamati and you know the history....

while anybody with even iota equivalent knowledge of Karachi would know the unnamed group is PPPs PAC.
