Roadside bomb: Peace committee chief, four others injured in explosion

A peace committee chief and four volunteers were seriously injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near the Pak-Afghan border in Jabar Jovar area of Baizai, Mohmand Agency on Tuesday.


Political administration official said head of Baba Zai peace committee Sahir Shah was passing through the route along with volunteers Saeed Khan, Asghar Khan, Awal Gul and Mustaqeem when the roadside bomb exploded. The injured men were rushed to a hospital where their condition was said to be critical. The vehicle they were in was completely destroyed.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack till the filing of this report. Baizai is a sub-division of Mohmand Agency where two main peace committees are functional along with other small ones. As a result, militants frequently target volunteers and leaders traversing through the area.
