We can’t decide if it’s the two-second clip of the sizzling Mahnoor Baloch dancing that has us going gaga, or the fact that the storyline is based on a sport close to our hearts.
MHSA is the story of a young man who dreams of becoming the star cricketer himself, but is struggling to achieve his dream. He realises that his final chance is a cricket tournament that will take place in Sialkot, where he hopes he can defeat professional, undefeated rivals. He and his team take help from former cricketer Akbar Deen (played by Humayun Saeed), who helps them but has a dark past of his own.
The Main Hoon Shahid Afridi team describes the film as “a journey of mistrust, betrayal, love, power and unfulfilled dreams” — we can’t wait to watch it on Eid ul Fitr!

Pakistan could make good movies but it will take some times. Please please please if you want to support Pakistani movies please go and watch all Pakistan movies that come to the cinema even if it does not look like a Bollywood or a hollywood movie. It is the only way to give confiance to Pakistani film maker. Pakistani can not make big budget movies now because they are not enough cinemas un Pakistan to make enough profit to recover their money.
@bruteforce and wt excuse does india have in producing those extremely lame soaps which have MILs popping their eyes out and women dressed up extremely distastefully. do they not see Pakistani dramas? im sure Indians too have access to Pakistani, Iranian, Turkish dramas. when would they learn how to make a good tv drama?
Brilliant effort for the revival of films in Pakistan and indian fims well i just wanted to say they also copy films from hollywood and still they are successfull in it.
@Facepalm: have not seen chak de so cannot comment but how is it (from the trailer) like jannant jannat is about crime and a criminal that is involved in illegal betting the cricket is not important its the crime this seems to be about underdogs taking on more powerfull ppl ie a david vs goliath story la yes they both relate to cricket but different ideas stories
Sorry to say, the movie has 'flop' written all over it. The camera work, the dialogues, the acting, and not to mention the title of the movie; all seems lame at best.
Compare this trailer with the trailers of 'Vaar', 'Zinda Bhag' and 'Gol Chakkar' and you will know the difference. While I'm looking forward for the revival of pakistani cinema, movies like this will never help the cause.
well...,,,you people r so narrow minded.making movie in pakistan in such circumstances with high budget is in itself a big deal.please dont disappoint the producers by comparing it to Indian movies just because it's a sport movie.don't forget that Humayun g has never nbeen a copy cat n he is the biggest hand behind the revival of tv drama.i jst love the trailor n waiting anxiously for the movie...jis mulk me tm jeswe log honge, wahan koi acha kam krne ka soch b le to salute ha usko. Well Done Humayun saeed..!!!
Disaster...
after eye to eye another "mind blowing" talent show :p
by the way why not mein hun 'waseem akram'? who is all over! ha ha ha!
Pakistan is struggling to maintain one Movie Industry, while India has it in the dozens.
Just Southern part of India has 4 thriving movie Industries!
People in Pakistan always give lame reasons like lack of technicians in Pakistan, lack of competition, but in today's connected world and such hi-tech(especially for a nuke power nation), film making is a relatively less technologically difficult.
Why do nations like US, India have such thriving movie Industries, while other nations struggle?
Its not because of technology; for, if it was, even Australia, Russia, China would have dominant movie industries.
It has to do with the society. India and US have flourishing, rich culture and its peoples not only love art, but also actively participate it in.
Pakistan and India were the same nation, yet Pakistan movie Industry collapsed, while the opposite happened in India. Pakistan had an industry in the 50s, but that was the time Pakistan was slowly turning into India. Now, that process is complete and hence, lack of any viable movie Industry.
@Facepalm: That was Chakde India. This is Chakde Sialkot!
Ok so now its Iqbal after Chakdeindia. lolz at some of the indians here.
Qureshi,
What does this movies has to do with India. Who wants to talk about them, its people like you who have some complex, who come here to criticize everything Pakistani. Incase you don't like this trailor, just ignore the movie, but you can't miss a chance to appreciate India. Are you sure you are a Pakistani?? No you are not!
Watch Indian film Iqbal
From its story line it seems like MHSA is a copy or inspired by an Indian Hindi Movie Iqbal (2005), Shreyas Talpade and Naseeruddin Shah played in that film.
Well done Humayuin. Movie looks attractive. The movie is around the struggles and achievements of a simple boy who made it big in cricket through complete determination and hard work.
Looks absolutely terrible.
i want to watch movies not telemovies or long plays on celluloid. as for mhsa, it reeks of chak de india and appears to be run of the mill.
I hope that this will be the 2013 best movie. Humayuin Saeed done very Good work. The film story is based on well known Pakistani cricketer and all rounder Shahid Khan Afridi. Trailer looks attractive.
why u use hd tv cameras for films u will never get desired quality in projection, there is a reason cinematography cameras r different
Iz this movie based on the career of shahid afridi?? If it's not so then how afridi permit thm to use his name? I didn't like it's name...!
@Qureshi: todays indian cinema is just opposite to its culture...and opposite to the 4eality of our society.dont try to fool others..however due to its superior production quality it is accepted bby the masses..
@sadaf naz: You understood the opposite of what I said. We should not be impressed and we should not try to follow what happens in Indian cinema.
Terrible over the top acting, B grade production values. I was rolling my eyes all through the trailer. Saw the other trailer as well. I don't know why Pakistani films have to be so over dramatic with over the top scenes and loud third rate acting.
@v, i'm sorry, but your standards of "amazing production values" are really scary... this has amateur production values... the wave of mediocrity that has swept the Pakistani TV/film industry is a direct result of people like you who think poorly produced work is "amazing"!!!
i'm not a pessimist, and i really want Pakistani cinema to go through a true revival... but when a big budgeted production (from a Pakistani standpoint) has access to the same tools used in Hollywood (RED EPIC camera, etc.), I have high expectations, at least of the production values. the production values here are amateur-ish at best... really sad. just proves that films are made with brains and talent and creativity and strong acting, not just fancy cameras and big budgets. anyway, i will still go see it and support it... but i don't think i'll be impressed
Amazing production values, this is going to be a big hit!
Seems as lame as Hamayun Saeed's acting!
@Qureshi...why are we so impressed, rather i would say compressed, from Indian cinema? anyhow MEIN HON SHAHID AFRIDI IS A GOOD JOB keep it up!
Afridi is not just a player ...he will be remembered as an Era in cricket
@Jerry: Jerry bhai, he is the guy/financier
Pakistani Cinema and their films are failures. Thats for sure. Please stop making films. Its embarrassing.
After watching Comments so far, I think Film Industry of Pakistan "LOLLYWOOD" should be closed now, because everyone here will watch all kind of disgusting movies being made in India/Hollywood & will say they tried to copy Bollywood/Hollywood movies & Pakistan is an Islamic state blah blah......GROW UP, Mahnoor Baloch's act is in just 1 song, why predicting flop already??????????
@Qureshi: Oh please. We are always criticising. Do you want to go back to the times of dancing heroins in crop fields and shan doing nothing but killing people?
Looks like a poorly made B-grade Indian movie.
I know you guys are capable of more originality.
@Qureshi
Yes they do but not in cheechoon ki malayyan :)
i'm not a pessimist, but i do expect serious production quality when the tools used are the same as those in Hollywood (RED EPIC camera, etc.) and the budget is pretty substantial (from a Pakistani standpoint)... this looks amateurish at best, kind of like a film school thesis that receives a B-.
Hoping CINEMA REVIVAL after watching movie's trailer! GOOD LUCK HUMAYUN!
Why Express tribune has so much of a pessimist following. Well, I think its good that films are at least coming. About it being a copy of Indian films, well, how can one assume such a thing when the movie is not even released yet. And about the comments on dressing of female characters in the movie, well, yes. Accept it or not, there is a section of our society that follows such fashion and goes to night clubs, it does not just include women, ask your male friends from the upper class 'where they usually spend their nights?' Right or wrong, its debatable but don't just turn eyes from the truth. Bravo, Humayun Saeed. I will go and watch ur movie.
Why you all are so negetive. Its just a 2 min trailar and you have predicted that movies is inspire from Chakde India and Jannat. Comeon guys hold your comments for realse atleast upto realease of movie. I think it will be a good movie and I am waiting for it.
Best of Luck.
Of all the movies coming out this year, this is quite possibly going to be the worst. In the trailer, its obvious that Humayun Saeed is wrongly cast for his role. This movie has copied shots with no depth (the director literally copy/pasted shots from famous films without adding his own original depth for the sake of the narrative).
Also, this movie has nothing to do with Shahid Afridi or his life story or his career or anything really, just a marketing ploy. It plays like a commercial Indian film with the typical Lollywood-ish lack of charisma and class.
It will definitely play out like Shahrukh Khan's hockey film because this whole movie is one giant copy/paste fest that lacks originality coupled by a sleazy club scene which could have been much cooler and classier but ends up looking like a second grade hooker bar because it's the kind of the place the creators frequented rather than some classy joints.
Finally, during the whole film you will constantly be wondering who the protagonist is, Humayun Saeed or the kid on the poster.
A project that has been a disaster from the get go, the trauma the audience will go through isn't even close to what the caste and crew have survived (barely) while filming this abomination.
In comparison, Josh, Zinda Bhaag and Morkaye seem to be REAL attempts at the revival of cinema rather than this cliched Bollywood/Lollywood concoction or the military funded propaganda called VAAR (and possibly The Extortionist)
P.S. One of the major mistakes made by the Television media, in its formative years, was to hire inadequate punters rather than young professionals. This is what has led to the debacle in the quality of our TV content. A similar mistake is being made now as the film industry has become self aware and instead of using film professionals, the industry is using TV actors and directors. It must be stressed that TV and Film are two different mediums and very few actors and directors can switch from one to another successfully. This is merely a race to make big bucks rather than understanding specialism and artistic focus. This is why this film in particular will have a TV look rather than the fantasy of Cinema of which dreams are made of.
Well, having seen some Pakistani movie clips on the web(apart from Bol and Khuda ke liye), I got an impression that the movie industry lacked most things that high budget films have.... good technicians, good talent, etc...However this movie seems to be made on not that low a budget(relatively) and although the acting in the later part of the clip seems to be a little amateur, I think its still a big improvement over the past endeavours..
@Qureshi Although Ive never been to Pakistan and would think of it as somewhat of a socially conservative country, I think such efforts from the local film industry would definitely promote liberal ideas( provided that is what you want and the locals dont riot over it). So all in all a step in the right direction.
In short, Impressed and good luck :)
The name suggests that its more like reviving Afridi's career rather than reviving cinema. :P Trailer looks good, looking forward to the release.
student film trailer, it sucks, slow motion is bad.. handycam bad...
A step forward in Pakistani cinema.
No it did not bowl me. Naming cricketers in a movie title is a cheap stint. The trailer isnt well made and last but not least, do women in Pakistan really walk around wearing skimpy body hugging dresses and socialize in bars! Give me a break. In order to match Indian cinema, we are totally lost.
seriously seems like a combination of chak de india and Jannat...humayun saeed trying to be shahrukh of chak de and javed sheikh playing a similar role he played in Jannat
Humayun saeed is not the only actor left in Pakistan! we have more bright and new talent!! bring them in front!! same old faces are seen in the trailer! i can predict its failure!!
