Police said that members of the special police forces Constable Osman and Constable Subhanullah were on duty on Ring Road when terrorists riding a motorcycle attacked them.
Both died on the spot, and the attackers also took their AK-47 rifles after the attack.
A large number of police personnel were sent to the area in a search operation but the perpetrators managed to escape.
“We are conducting a search operation in the area after two of our constables were killed by the terrorists,” said an official of the local police station.
He said that the terrorists had increased their activities in the adjacent tribal belt as well as in the Peshawar district in the recent past and were frequently attacking law enforcement agencies as well as security forces.

The only benefit of that pathetic news conference (in which CM khattak requested TTP for mercy and assured them EVERY respect that they wish) is that TTP is not targetting PTI now as they used to target ANP. The two MPAs who lost their lives were independent and were only supporting the pti govt (one killed in funeral in Mardan was still ideologically attached to ANP). After securing himself, the CM is boasting to move in Peshawar (in his bullet proof land cruiser), and boasting to remove the many checkposts of the previous govt, but without doing anything concrete to bring peace; police and the innocent people continue to die on daily basis in funerals, markets and mosques. It is for this reason that the pTI leadership doesnt condemn the terrorists; rather they link these tragedies with drones, america's war, American dollars received by previous govt and so on. Although these slogans did move people before the elections, in the present situation they ssound pathetic as well as hilarious.
Curtail Voilence and Terrorism in KPK , and it' the movement of it's people to other provinces specially Sindhi have Special ID cards for each province to identify who is who and you will see an end to Terrorism in Pakistan. ! That is what other countries have done !
Unfortunately, the terrorists were once again successful in orchestrating an act of terror. We take our hat off to these officers who died while serving their country. We send our heartfelt condolences to their families and hope that they will find the strength to deal with this tragedy. Our sacrifices on both sides of the border continue to prove our stance against terrorism. There is no doubt that certain terrorist elements are working against our efforts to restore peace in the region. They wish to see the region plagued with chaos and turmoil for the sake of destabilizing the government. But they’ve been unable to break our shared will and desire to stabilize the region. We will not let our sacrifices go in vain and let our common enemies off the hook. We will continue to work together for the betterment of the region.

@Naseer Ahmad: Well federal government is not out of hangover yet. People were waiting for ch. Nisar to announce security policy, and all he could come up with is this: http://tribune.com.pk/story/570852/nadra-collects-domestic-worker-data-in-islamabad/.
I am neither a PTI supporter nor I have cast my vote in its favor, yet I am perturbed the way some readers use the incidents of terrorism in KPK for PTI bashing ignoring the foreign and interior policies dimensions of these incidents. Almost all political parties have urged the federal government to formulate a National Anti Terrorism Policy, but a number of learned readers blame the KPK government for not making a Provincial Policy to control this menace without taking into account the Federal aspect of this policy.
This will the result when you keep doing war with uneducated people for ten years ... They will kill you... We have to educate them and make them normal.. other wise this war will go like that for 100 years.
Read this to view the true taliban face of PTI http://x.dawn.com/2013/05/17/no-enmity-with-the-taliban-says-pti-cm-designate/
This is what you get when appeasing terrorists with talks and giving them the feeling of strength....Is this the naya pakistan that IK promised ?? We need to get rid of not only the talibans but also the taliban apologists in government.
Welcome to "Naya Pakistan".
Why are PTI leaders silent, why PTI Government KP inactive, why PML-Nawaz ha nothing to say? Do they all suspect these policemen involved in the 'drone attacks' ?
what type of special trained police it was sitting like a duck, there is no self motivating force alive within our self only these incidence will revive them automatically. The seniors have to move first.
Immi, where art thou?
Maybe KP can look towards Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab for good ideas regarding the eradication of terrorism...oh wait they haven't done anything yet either.
May be a Shia or Ahmadi groups killed those police.
Let Mr. IK explain this.
@Hatf XX: What do u mean? India is involved?
@Hatf XX:
Comments like this really make me want to make a Pakistani version of the "Blame Canada!" song from the South Park movie. It would, of course, be:
"Should we blame the government? Or blame society? Or should we blame the images on TV? No, blame India! Blame India!"
This happens when you try to negotiate with Nazis rather waging war against them. PTI wake up and be realistic.
Here we go again!
Enuf already, india!
Let's talk to these pious humans. Let's bring them on the table, with a paper and pen and let's talk to the most literate group of human beings in Pakistan. And ofcourse it's not our war, they are not our policemen.
