FAISALABAD: The Environment Protection Department on Friday sealed a mango juice and two tomato ketchup factories for unhygienic conditions. Inspector Rana Riaz Ahmad and his team visited the factories and found Sheikh Aftab Tomato Ketchup Factory, Shoaib Tomato Ketchup Factory, and Noor Food Factory preparing unhygienic tomato ketchup and mango juice. The factories were then sealed. Ahmad said that the tomato ketchup factories at Jhang Road were preparing ketchup without actually using tomatoes, while one of them was also preparing imli (tamarind) substitute using chemicals. At the mango juice factory, rotten mangoes were being used, he said. He said samples taken from the factories had been sent to a laboratory for analysis. He said further action would be taken on receipt of the laboratory report.
