Rainy season: Met office predicts onset of monsoon

The Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted the onset of monsoon rains

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted the onset of monsoon rains from Saturday, saying the spell would continue for three days. A Met Office spokesman told APP that the first monsoon rain spell would be focused on upper parts of the country. Weak monsoon currents have started penetrating in Kashmir and other upper parts of the country that may produce isolated rain in Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Lahore and Gujranwala divisions and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and D I Khan divisions. During next two to three days Isolated dust-thundershowers are also expected in Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan Bannu, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during the same days. A westerly wave is expected to enter in northern parts of the country on Thursday evening.
