According to a NAB official, the arrests were made from Saddar and Sohrab Goth on a tip off. NAB director-general Wajid Durrani told The Express Tribune that the accused were involved in misappropriation of General Provident (GP) fund to the tune of Rs1 billion. More arrests are expected soon, he added.
Hafiz Siddiqui, a NAB official, said that the department had earlier asked them to produce the record of GP fund but they failed to produce the complete details and even tried to fudge with the record to save their skins. He said that when they realised that there was no way out they went into hiding. They would be produced before the NAB court on Wednesday (today), Siddiqui added.

The raids follow earlier arrests of suspects from Hyderabad and Umerkot allegedly involved in corruption in the education department and the district accounts office. Similar arrests are expected in other districts of Sindh.
