LONDON:
Some workers of political parties and a woman, reportedly the wife of a Pakistani politician, have been included in the investigation of the Imran Farooq murder case on Tuesday, Express News reported.
British police investigating the murder of exiled Pakistani politician Imran Farooq in London nearly three years ago said they had arrested a man at Heathrow airport on Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
The 52-year-old Iftikhar Hussain, a British citizen of Pakistani origin, was detained by counter-terrorism officers as he arrived on a flight from Canada and was taken to a West London police station, police added in a statement.
The detainee, sources familiar with the developments alleged, is a close relative of a top Pakistan politician.
The arrest came after the Canadian police informed the British police about Hussain’s flight from Toronto to London.
The phone sims of the suspect were taken in custody and the data collected brought some important information in the limelight. Apart from the involvement of some political figures, money laundering was also found to be an important objective for the murder.
Police said that secret information cannot be disclosed as yet, but they have reached quite close to unraveling the mystery.
