Fashion Police: The return of Mughal-e-Azam

Apart from boxing, Amir Khan is also known for his expensive yet stylish taste in fashion.

British born Amir Khan first caught our attention when he became the youngest World Boxing Champion at the age of 17. Apart from boxing, Khan is also known for his expensive yet stylish taste in fashion and is always dressed to impress. However, when he tied the knot with Pakistani beauty Faryal Makhdoom on May 31, we were confused who the bride was! Khan was over-dressed and left us disappointed as a guy who, despite such impeccable taste, got it all wrong. Sigh!

The charge sheet

Hair

Khan has pretty decent-looking hair and he probably should’ve gone au natural. But no, he seemed to have forgotten the definition of subtle that night or maybe, he was too excited about the wedding. Wearing a turban is fine as most grooms like to go the traditional way. But this oh-so-gaudy red jeweled piece of work on his head makes him look like an extra from Jodhaa Akbar.

Make-up

YES! We do believe Khan chose to apply make-up on his special day because no one can get that orange in just a day. We have nothing to say to this, except WHY Khan? WHY?

Accessories

We believe that Khan has been spending time in his mom’s closet playing dress-up. He wore everything that he got his hands on. First the turban and this garish golden tussled scarf followed by a Kundan necklace of sorts. Did he borrow that from Feryal? And is that a SWORD? Has Shahjehan put you on gate duty or what?

Outfit

TOO MUCH! There is just too much of everything. Why is there so much embroidery? So much orange? So much red? So much gold? Grooms should also get a part of the spotlight on their wedding day, but with this ensemble, Khan chose to literally become the spotlight with all those bright colours. We really wish that the hunk could’ve gone with a more subtle choice in sherwanis. Perhaps an off-white and light gold? Or even a plain black!

Bail Out!

Atif Aslam

The popstar looked handsome and sophisticated on his wedding day in this off-white sherwani which had minimal embroidery — just how they should be! We aren’t too sure of the over-sized turban, but it works with the overall ensemble.

Shahroz Sabzwari

Son of veteran actor Behroz Sabzwari, Shahroz shocked us all when he tied the knot with gorgeous VJ Saira. He looked cute and charming in his white sherwani and chose to go with a cool look by ditching the traditional turban. And he has definitely scored some extra points with that smile!

Shahzad Sheikh

The heartthrob looked charming in this simple sherwani with silver embroidery. Though, we’re not fans of grooms with turbans, but this cutie makes it work!
