Attack foiled: High-intensity bomb defused in Hangu

A pedestrian spotted the bomb near a bridge in the area after which police reached and blocked the road.

HANGU: A high-intensity bomb meant to target a security forces convoy was defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Thal-Hangu Road on Sunday. Hangu BDS Incharge Asadullah said he was informed in the afternoon by the police control that there was a bomb planted in Kotkai area by unidentified militants. Asadullah said according to the Hangu police, a pedestrian spotted the bomb near a bridge in the area after which police reached and blocked the road. The incharge said the 12 kilogramme explosives were planted under the bridge in a canister. “Their target were the Thal Scouts and security forces convoy that take the route on Sundays,” said the official adding they have defused many bombs on that road.
