Schedule announced: By-elections to be held on August 22

Sixteen NA seats and 25 provincial assemblies up for grabs.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for by-elections in 41 constituencies of the National and provincial assemblies.


According to the ECP schedule, elections will be held in 16 constituencies of the National assembly and 25 of provincial assemblies on August 22.

The poll body has also called upon members of the provincial assembly of Balochistan to elect Senate members against two general seats which have been left vacant by Senator Molana Muhammad Khan Sheerani of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Senator Nawabzada Mir Haji Lashkari Raisani of PML-N.

Molana Sheerani got elected as a National Assembly member on May 11 general elections and hence, according to Article 223 of the Constitution, had to resign from one seat. Raisani had earlier resigned from Senate membership due to differences with his party, the PPP, and later joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.



The commission announced  schedule for the nomination of candidates, the scrutiny of nomination papers, according to which, public notice inviting nomination papers will be issued on June 25. Between June 27 and June 28, the nomination of candidates will be finalised.

July 4 will be the last date to appeal against the rejection of nomination papers. Last date for candidates’ withdrawal has been set as July 8. July 18 is marked as the polling day at the provincial assembly building in Quetta.

@ Saba,, Agree but there is no other option what you can expect from government officers holding elections.... We must demand and fight for electronic system in election other wise to overthrow these feudal lords is very difficult but not impossible...
