Talking to journalists at the Peshawar Press Club, tribal elder Naeem Wazir along with others said hundreds of schools in the agency have been dysfunctional, due to which thousands of children are deprived of their right to education. Wazir also accused the agency’s education officer of committing massive corruption.
He claimed the tribal people extended a helping hand to reopen schools many a time to save the precious time of children, but the agency’s officer did not show any interest.
Wazir added they have made committees of several local people in Speen Wam area to help revive nine schools, where many children are now receiving education.
The agency education officer was also accused of hiring blue-eyed persons for lucrative jobs and violating merit. Wazir urged K-P governor and chief secretary of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) to take notice of this issue, warning tribesmen will protest in front of parliament and Governor House if their demands are not met.
