LAHORE: All options are being explored to ensure uninterrupted power supply to industry in Punjab, Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique said in a media briefing on Wednesday.

The minister said that the energy crisis had reduced or halted industrial production, which is why the newly-elected government was focusing on alternative energy resources like solar, biomass, biogas and wind in addition to main electricity generation components of hydel and thermal.

Following the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s directives, the Punjab government has been in contact with electricity generation companies in China, Australia, Japan, Germany and other local and foreign investors for joint ventures, he added.
