Hospital Visit: DCO monitors progress on measles

Visit came after orders from the Lahore High Court for each district to form a one man committee to monitor measles.

BAHAWALPUR: Rahim Yar Khan District Coordination Officer Khalid Saleem visited the Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Wednesday to get an update on progress against measles.

Saleem saw reports of children diagnosed with measles, inspected vaccine records, and visited the ward designated for children with measles.

The visit came after orders from the Lahore High Court for each district to form a one man committee to monitor measles.

Executive District Officer (Health) Fayyaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Assistant Commissioner Javed Ahmad, and Medical Superintendent Afzal Saqib were also present.

Saqib said that six beds were designated for children diagnosed with measles- two in the Intensive Care Unit and four in the Children Ward.

Chaudhry said that the vaccine was distributed in accordance with the population of various areas.

He added that cold storages for vaccines were available in all tehsil headquarters hospitals and district headquarters hospitals.

Saleem said that the Health Department should launch an awareness campaign on vaccination of children.
