Gunned down: Peace committee member killed

On May 31, a volunteer of Masho Khel peace militia was killed in a medium-intensity bomb blast.

PESHAWAR: An Adezai peace militia member identified as Misri Khan was shot dead in the cattle market of Shera Kera village, Mattani on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, Misri was visiting the weekly market with his cattle when unidentified masked gunmen opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. The 52-year-old was a resident of Khudi Khel, Adezai and a strong supporter of the local peace militia, said a police official. He speculated Misri was targeted because of his affiliation with the peace committee. On May 31, a volunteer of Masho Khel peace militia was killed in a medium-intensity bomb blast in Masho Gagar village. Najeem Khan had been an active supporter and member of the militia since 2008.
