FAISALABAD:

Scores of people from Ghulam Muhammadabad protested against the police on Wednesday over their failure to recover a kidnapped man and arrest the kidnappers.

The protesters gathered outside the office of the regional police officer and staged a sit-in.

Muhammad Hussain, one of the protestors, alleged that former Madina Town SHO Maghfoor Ahmad and his gunmen had abducted a youth, Khwaja Ammar, from near Dera Sain graveyard on June 8. He said Ammar’s family had approached the Ghulam Muhammadabad police station, but the police were initially reluctant to register a case against the former SHO. He said, “The case was finally registered, and the former SHO arrested. But Ammar has not been recovered.”

After three hours a representative of the RPO visited the protesters and assured them that the man would be recovered soon.
