Rafique said the hiring of the said advisers was done on political grounds and that they will be fired.
A legal firm will be appointed and new legal advisers will be hired in their stead.
A day earlier Rafique had said that he was working on a plan for the revival of Pakistan Railways (PR).
He had said that efforts would be made to bring an end to corrupt practices in the department.

I request to every body to give this government some time, Mr. Saad Rafiq is
young and honest minister in this cabnit, he will not disappoint to Nation
Our minister seems to like dramatic statements
This is misleading. PR had 238 lawyers throughout the countey in panel given to PR by the Ministry of Law. Whenever there was a legal case to be fought any lawyer could get a case. They were only paid when given a case. They received no salary ..
Can any one find out the advice given by these 238 legal advisers to railway and the outcome. it might be relating to the litigation with railway. Let the railway declare the number of legal disputes pending in the courts.. Normally any Institution keeps a panel of approved lawyers and they are not on the pay roll rather their services are obtained on case to case basis and paid accordingly. What is the status of legal advisers of Pakistan Railways is not known ?
If you think Ajum Akeel and Haneef Abassi are real revolutionaries then you would love Saad Rafique...
AG Mr Munir Malik and various Ministers should look at all the legal advisors that have been appointed in various Ministries and Department and rationalise them. This is waste of money.to have a huge team of legal advisors who get paid monthly retainership
How unfair...Has anyone taken the trouble to find out that these Lawyers were being trained as Locomotive Drivers... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ And ticket checkers as well. So what of the Locos are not operational?
I hope to God that these people will not be replaced with the new ones fron PML-N. It will be mismanagement at the high scale. There is no need to replace them.
@jibran: "Hum daikhin gay" keep singing this line, will certainly make next 5 years much easier for you :)
@I. Ahmed: you seems to be a genius, railways is not a law firm that needs to hire a full army legal experts
its a political vengeance yar try to realize
I was overjoyed reading the heading of the news report 'Railways Ministry: 238 legal advisers shown the door' because I am of the firm opinion that to run institutions like Railways, or indeed any other institution, you need, honest, adequately and relevantly qualified, capable and experienced administrators, with proper system of checks and balances maintained by an independent internal audit department reporting at the highest level, and making sure that things are done strictly in accordance with the prescribed procedures as laid down in the 'Procedures Manual' and not an army of legal advisers. Also, observing what their 'advice' had done to the railways, they needed to be shown the door, followed by many others.
However, my joy proved shortlived because reading the text of the report, I learnt that the reason for their removal was that they had allegedly been appointed on political basis, and the Federal Railways Minister Saad Rafique intends replacing them, which would perhaps mean one set of political appointees replaced by another set of political appointees, with only change being the party appointing them.
Just a few days back, the spokesperson for the Joint Action Committee of the Pakistan International Airlines, which has a staff-to-aircraft ratio which is probably the highest in the world when compared with airlines of similar size, and is a heavy subsidy-guzzler, had demanded a separate aviation ministry in recognition of importance of the aviation sector.
Our people really want to do things on a grand scale. No wonder we are in such a mess.
Karachi
Well this man is just scoring points he is going to appoint his henchman to do a organized corruption. They are too sinister to be understood. These people are hallmark of double dealing They will certainly ruin the already dead railway as abbasi did to PIA in their last tenure.
These jialas should not worry as in the next ppp govt they will be back again alongwith salaries
PMLN owns the judiciary, the bureaucracy, police, and patwaris. Now is the turn of legal advisors. For PMLN, anything short of complete obedience is a political appointment. Time to replace them with their own cronies.
And now all the problems of Railways will be solved. Such idiots becoming ministers - the legal advisers were not the core problem of the Railways, getting brownie points only - do something constructive or if nothing say something constructive.
@Pacer: all u need is positivity
those advisors will go to court and still get paid without doing any work. Then after 5 years not doing work with the future government they will be reinstated with back date dues. This will ruin further the ministry .
Jialas be ready for your turn to get kicked out
Please provide the name of these legal advisors
will be replaced by 300 new advisors
So a guy who was "legally" elected via blatant rigging just fired 238 illegally appointed legal advisors! SubhanAllah!
'They will be replaced' by non-political appointees because PMLn is not a political party. Actually PMLn has to make space for her own legal cronies.
@ A2Z, Yes we do have 238 platforms. And many of them are very picturesque. We just need leaders with good managment skills (I dont care which party) and PR will be up and running again! We just need to spend the money wisely, instead of directing into pockets- and Pakistan will be up and running again! iA.
238 legal advisors needed for fool-proof corruption??!!!
There we go again P.M.L.N. is going to sack 238 legal advisers making way to appoint their own favourites.Wait till the next Govt. comes to power they will sack these appointees and appoint their favourites it is a game of 'merry go round'.God help Pakistan!
@A2Z: "238 legal advisers, we don’t have even 238 platforms in the country" . Did you mean political platforms, by any chance?
they are going to replace ?? as i get it from above news and they will appoint most probably with N definitely.
238 legal advisers, we don't have even 238 platforms in the country
Its a good step towards eradicating corruption, although PTI supporter, I wish I also have to support PMLN for its good policies. Thumbs down for budget btw
I am amazed that there were 238 Legal Advisors appointed by Pakistan Railways?
Were there 238 trains shuttling from Karachi to Khyber Up and Down?
There you go
