MULTAN:

The federal government has deputed Bebo Raam, an official from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), to the National Highway Authority in Multan, despite Supreme Court orders against posting of officers with no prior experience.

Raam had been appointed as NHA’s deputy director of maintenance. His brother Dr Darshan is a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA.

Bebo Raam has never worked at the National Highway Authority, said NHA officials, who do not want to reveal their names.

Former government officials have posted 160 officers to departments, including SNGPL, NHA, Federal Investigation Authority and National Database Registration Authority. Thirty-four have been removed from posts in the FIA last week on Supreme Court orders. A single bench of the Islamabad High Court has ruled against the posting of 45 officials in other departments. Since then, 39 officials have been removed from their new posts.

The NHA Multan general manager was not available for a comment.
