KARACHI: Three police officials were reportedly detained over their alleged involvement in the murder of their colleague at Boat Basin on Friday night.

A police constable, 40-year-old Naveed Khalil, was shot dead under mysterious circumstances near Sea View within the limits of Boat Basin police station earlier on the same night. According to police officials, the incident took place when the deceased, accompanied by three other police personnel, Ishtiaq, Qurban and Khalil, was returning to the police station after work.

The three police personnel have been detained over suspicions that they killed their colleague because of a dispute over the distribution of bribe money. Boat Basin SHO Naseer Tanoli, however, denied the allegations saying that nothing could be said until the investigation was conducted.
