Former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf was formally arrested on Thursday by Balochistan Police in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case and was later sent on a two-week judicial remand by Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad.
On June 12, a special team of Balochistan Crime Branch arrived in Islamabad to arrest the former military ruler in connection with the 2006 killing of the Baloch leader.
Police officials from Balochistan headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Investigation Rehmatullah Niazi formally arrested Musharraf on Thursday morning at his farmhouse, already declared a sub-jail, after Balochistan Anti Terrorism Court issued his arrest warrants in the case.
Later the ATC Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi sent him on judicial remand for two weeks. After his arrest, this case would be heard in Islamabad as Balochistan government has filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) requesting that the case be shifted to Islamabad as it does not have the resources to provide security to the former president.
On October 7, 2009 the BHC ordered Dera Bugti Police Station House Officer (SHO) to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Musharraf in the murder case of Bugti in response to a petition filed by the tribal chief’s son, Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Rehmatullah Niazi confirmed that the ATC Islamabad had sent Musharraf on judicial remand of two weeks and now the trial against him would start in the sub-jail.
It may be noted that the judges’ detention case against Musharraf is already pending in the ATC Islamabad and the police has yet to submit a complete challan. Earlier a division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi and Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan had accepted his post-arrest bail plea against surety bond of Rs500,000 in the judges’ detention case.

Everyone should know what that state of affairs has been in DeraBugti and Sui, Baluchistan.
Politician in making!
All these cases are not politicized. Inshallah All this hurdle will come to an end. Musharraf is a brave and honest leader. Nothing will happen to him inshallah. May allah all mighty help our leader. Ameen.
What a joke, nothing else how can ATC open the case when in the constitution it is clearly defined that they have complete immunity from prosecution when they come in aid of civil power. Next time around Sufi mohammed should also file a case of murder against kiyani for swat operation. That led to the death of countless of his relatives. Just because now he is weak they are trying every which way to degrade him. Why was Kausar Abbass Zaidi again assigned this case. Does ATC have only one judge to hear these cases. Pathetic state of affairs. Down with this Judicial Terrorism
