In cold blood Islamia: College lecturer’s murder trial from June 13

The driver and his friend had planned to steal her jewellery and rob her house.

District and Session Judge Nazir Ahmad Gajana on Tuesday referred to an additional district and sessions judge police report to initiate a murder trial. An Islamia College lecturer was apparently killed on February 24 by her driver and an accomplice.


Police say Farah Riaz, who had been a lecturer at Islamia College, Cooper Road, was thrown into a canal near Farooqabad by her driver, Suleman Tahir, and his friend Imran.The two men had used keys from her bag and stolen her jewelry. However, they later learnt that it was base metal jewelry. They were arrested by Gaziabad police following a complaint by the deceased’s brother, Tariq Riaz.

The police produced the men before a magistrate seeking their remand to recover the car, gold, and the body of the deceased from the Bhikki canal on Faisalabad Road.

In a statement recorded under Section 164 PPC, Imran confessed to hatching the plan to kill Farah Riaz and rob her house.
