11 die, 14 injured in five accidents

Three men on two motorcycles were competing with each other in a race when they both ran into the truck, says witness.

Three people died in Muzaffargarh on Tuesday when two motorcyclists ran into a Karachi-bound truck on the National Highway.


The accident occurred near Shehr Sultan. Witnesses said the three men on two motorcycles were competing with each other in a race when they both ran into the truck.

They died on the way to Alipur tehsil headquarters hospital.

In Lodhran, two people died and two others were injured when two motorcyclists rammed into each other taking a blind turn.

Rescue officials said the two bikers were driving in the opposite directions when they hit each other in Kehror Pakka. Two passers-by were also injured. The four injured were taken to tehsil headquarters hospital, where two of them, including a passer-by, died a few hours later.

The other two were reported to be in critical condition.

In Rajan Pur’s Basti Liaqat, three farmers died after they received an electric shock from the pipes used for digging a tube well.

Rescue officials said the farmers were installing a pipe for the tube well, when it touched an 11-kilowatt electricity wires passing over the field, resulting in the electrocution.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, three children died when a Qing Qi rickshaw, carrying school children, collided with a car driving in the opposite direction. Five other children and two people in the car were also injured and taken to a hospital, where they were all reported to be out of danger.

The rickshaw driver was arrested and both the vehicles were taken in police custody.

In Multan, five labourers were injured after the fire in an electricity generator at a factory in Industrial Estate caused an explosion. They were taken to Nishtar Hospital, where three of them were reported to be in critical condition.

The incident occurred at a spinning factory, where the hydraulic pipe of a generator caught fire causing the blast. Two of the five injured labourers were later discharged from the hospital.

It took Rescue officials four hours to extinguish the fire.
