Cher set to appear on the season finale of The Voice

Singer to perform on live TV after 10 years.

NEW YORK: Living legend Cher has a career that spans over five decades. The diva is known for her distinctive contralto singing voice and for having worked in various areas of entertainment, as well as for continuously reinventing both her music and her image. There’s no doubt that Cher has a huge fan following and the status of a super star.

It has been announced that she will appear on the season finale of the singing competition series The Voice on June 18, making her first live TV performance in more than 10 years, according to TV channel NBC’s representative.

The singer and actor, who has won an Oscar as well as Grammy and Emmy awards, will also perform Woman’s World,  which is the new single from her album by  the same name, soon to be released in September as her first in 12 years.

Cher’s record-breaking 1998 single Believe reached no 1  position worldwide and sold more than 20 million copies, and more recently she has been focusing on touring, including the 2003-2005 Living Proof tour, which totalled more than 300 shows.

The 67-year-old singer and winner of the Best Actress Academy Award winner for Moonstruck has appeared on several television talk shows, documentaries and award shows, but she last performed on television on the 2002 VH1 Divas Las Vegas special.

The Voice, which competes against rival broadcaster Fox’s singing contests American Idol and The X Factor, averages about 14 million viewers over its two weekly shows. It will finish its current season on June 18.

There’s no doubt that fans will be excited to see Cher visit the sets of The Voice on the finale and perform. It is definitely a big deal that she will perform on live TV after 10 years and share the stage with today’s singing sensations including the likes of Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher. It will truly be a night to remember.
