The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Sunday temporarily closed down Bacha Khan International Airport to carry out maintenance work.
The airport was closed at around 3pm and had to be reopened at 4am on Monday morning (today).
A CAA official told The Express Tribune some parts of the airport’s runway had become worn out and dilapidated. “In order to avoid any accident, the authorities have halted all traffic to carry our repairs,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines in a statement said the PK-219 flight from Peshawar to Abu Dhabi along with the PK-755 flight from Peshawar to Riyadh had been rerouted to take off from Islamabad.
