KARACHI:

There was unrest in Lyari on Saturday after the arrest of two alleged gangsters — Fahim alias Kora and Aqeel.

The two men were arrested after they were wounded in an exchange of fire with the law enforcers. Fahim later succumbed to his injuries. The encounter took place when the law enforcers reached the gangsters’ hideout in Singu Lane and the suspects opened fire.

The police and Rangers also responded by firing, in which the two suspects were shot and arrested. Their accomplice managed to escape.  SHO Haji Sanaullah told The Express Tribune that Fahim used to carry out the executions for the gang.  Five Kalashnikovs, a light machine gun, two pistols, a rocket with launcher, five walkie-talkie sets and two bullet-proof jackets were found in their possession. Two passers-by were  also wounded when men started aerial firing in the area.

@ashar: "Nothing will bring peace unless you hit the core." . Not that easy. The "core" has an important role to play which has developed over the years in symbiosis with the political forces.
