Imran Khan’s twitter activity on the topic of drones and Fauzia Kasuri has enraged some, and confused others in the Twittersphere this morning.
Imran Khan condemned the drone strike that killed seven in Waziristan just a day before in a tweet and proceeded to a second tweet stating,
The drone attack that killed pro peace Waliurrehman led to r soldiers being killed/injured in revenge attacks! This is totally unacceptable.

Replies to his tweet started pouring in immediately after,
Sundus Rasheed
Taliban now considered 'pro-peace'. Not a single woman in the Cabinet. Welcome to Naya, Roshan Pakistan. Let's burn together.
Gharidah Farooqi
WaliurRehman was so "pro peace" he slits throats, razed mosques, schools, markets, killed cmn ppl & soldiers whoever he thought was "anti peace"
Sami Shah
I remember this one time when my wife & I were arguing and Wali Ur Rehman reminded us about love and we all sang a song together.
Rehman was the spokesperson for Baitullah Mehsud from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and deputy to his successor Hakimullah Mehsud.
He carried $5 million bounty on his head and was accused of organising attacks against the US and Nato forces in Afghanistan. He was also wanted in connection with a suicide attack on an American base in Afghanistan in 2009 that killed seven CIA agents.
Fauzia Kasuri
After an hour’s break, another tweet appeared regarding controversial ex-member of PTI, Fauzia Kasuri. The tweet read,
I have met Fauzia & will get her back soon. PTI mbrs should know that her services for PTI r immense.
— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) June 8, 2013 ">I have met Fauzia & will get her back soon. PTI mbrs should know that her services for PTI r immense.

Twitter users applauded the effort while some criticized and felt there was a disconnect between what Imran Khan says and what PTI says,
Nadia Mirza
@ImranKhanPTI Although this is little late but late is better than never. #PTI and #Fouzia kasuri are inseparable.
Marvi Sirmed
But that's not what came out of PTI official statement yday RT @MohsinZaheerUSA: @ImranKhanPTI says he will not let Fozia Kasuri go anywhere
Fauzia Kasuri tweeted last night to confirm the meeting with Imran Khan. Her tweet read,
I met IK tonight in Lhr. Mashallah, he is looking good and getting better.
— Fauzia Kasuri (@FauziaKasuri) June 7, 2013 ">I met IK tonight in Lhr. Mashallah, he is looking good and getting better.

Imran's twitter page has all eyes on it as topics of national interest such as drones are being discussed.

Extremism leads to terrorism.Exterminate the cause to dismantle the effect.Imran Khans are putting the cart before the horse leading to death and destruction on mass scale.
Why only two of eight SAARC countries are being droned?A point to ponder to move out of the box.
@sherrry: How Waliur Rehman could be pro Pakistan if he did not accept the constitution of the country?
Can Mr. Khan explain why is Taliban attack on Pakistani Soldiers a revenge attack for American drone attacks? Taliban attack American bases in Afghanistan, Americans in revenge attack Taliban in Waziristan and in revenge Taliban attack Pakistani citizens and soldiers. Can Mr Khan explain the taliban logic of revenge?
@kanwal: thanks for sharing wisdom with others
No Sir it should not be considered because IK choose to tweet , when he could have equally wrote an email or what ever, that means IK was confident whatever he wabted to say could be said in a tweet@Kay Kay:
@Baaghi: yes i feel the same
IK has shown again that he is a greenhorn. You don't make such categorical statements until you can substantiate it. The man in question has killed and maimed countless Pakistanis and Imran Khan wants us to believe that he is a man of peace. How naive can you get?!! It is obvious that the 15 years in politics hasn't helped him much. But then some people are slow learners.
While most Pakistani rightwing people say TTP are foreign agents, our dear leader calls them peace-loving! How could we negotiate with foreign agents? On the other issue if PTI and IK were going to patch-up with Fouzia K, then why did they spit so much venom against her and character assassination of the lady? Any other organization instead of telling the world that the lady was not a founding member and on merit she did not deserve a ticket, she should have been given a ticket on one of the seats vacated by IK, Hashmi or other in by-elections. PTI and its leaders have shown more respect for TTP leadership than their own women leaders.
The only good taliban are the dead taliban really. Still if they want peace and want to talk, they must put their weapons down, stop demanding sharia for pakistan and give up all criminal activities all over pakistan. Only then we will consider them pro peace. Untill then ,i ll just ignore imran khan. He is just another coward.
The punjabis in Pakistan will suffer at the hands of these barbarians in the next 10 years, as they have for centuries. Ranjit Singh was the last of the great Punjabis and they may wish for his return, but alas, they are doomed.
Good Sir :) We should support peace talks and resolve our problems in our way, and not play in hands of west. They cannot bear a peaceful and developing Muslim state.
Anyone who supports an endless war with the extremists is a true enemy of Pakistan. This will be an endless war that has already destroyed pretty much all institutions, politics and institutions in our country. All the macho idiots will be well advised to take a chill pill and think (if they can) as to what this will achieve. We all hate terrorism and bloodshed but we need to think about how best to get rid of it, not how best to sing our testosterone induced revenge ballads!
@Baloch Insafian: This was his strategic error to talk about peace in war; Rommel made ths mistake and had to go in a dishonourable way and the former four star Gneral Macchrystal, who talked about peace as well by winnng the hearts and minds of Afghan citizens and he was fired. Talks yes, but not peace, unless one is defeated or the two sides agree for Peace and have a peace agreement. Neither the USA nor Afghanistan have signed up to a peace agreement ever. .
Rex Minor
why are we so ignorant with our past and activities of our allies(AMERICA) who first started the war by drone strike on madarassa in bannu check news for source.
Double-play. The Kaptaan can't stop playing games. Now with the emotions of the innocent victims.
I think this statement is read wrongly, or atleast i hope it is. What he is trying to say is that Waliur-Rahman was in favour of holding peace talks and come to a solution and having killed him eradicates that possibility as well. If that is indeed true, then we do need to open our eyes and understand that someone doesn't really want a solution to this whole situation and they would keep eliminating taliban leaders who can help create that possibility. So instead of criticizing IK and doubt his nationalism we should try to understand what really is happening on the ground :)
With people like Imran Khan who needs enemy? These guys openly and unashamedly support killers of Pakistan. In another country this could be considered clear treason. If Taliban are good despite killing so many innocent Pakistanis then how come drones are bad who kill so few and many of the killed being confirmed terrorists?
The problem with pseudo-liberals is that just the mention of the word 'Taliban' sends them into a frenzy and they want everyone within the vicinity of anyone identified as a Taliban incinerated. Not unlike drones.
These kinds of people have been making Pakistan's terrorism policy for over a decade now, hence the mess we're in.
Just one thing about Taliban and you guys, Anyone of you don't know anything about Taliban. You are at War with them, so stop this hate thing. They hate you and me even more.
Oh, can we please see anyone statement impartially. You all burger and elite class, there is nothing wrong with any statement. I am from Dera Ismail Khan. I know Wali Ur Rehman was Pro Peace, he may not be your love, not mine of course. But at this stage, his killing was insane. you can not eliminate Taliban by killing them, and it USA not you Pakistan who is doing the kill. What would you do when America leave this place like it did After Russian War. Taliban is mindset and it will take time, till then retain your hate inside and let embrace Taliban and let them change their mind about pakistan. These Taliban are our people among US, May be not from DHA but from Pakistan.
on February 2013 he appeared in a video with Hakimullah Mehsud and reaffirmed his loyalty to him and then both of them praised Al Qaeda and its global jihad, and again on May 14, 2013 in a video message he strongly condemned democracy in Pakistan.
So does that sounds a message of a peaceful man or a message of a global terrorist?
By pro peace he means that we need to get this junk out of our country and for that Wali ur Rehman's role was very important
Wali ur rehman was involved in attacks on our policemen, markets, blowing up schools and slitting throats of tribal elders. He was also involved in the parade lane mosque attack on military. How on earth does that make him pro-peace? Naive politicians like Imran Khan need a reality check!
You can fight an external enemy but you cannot fight an enemy that belongs to your home. Wali Ur Rehman & his followers belongs to Pakistan. We hate their brutality and the way they are killing innocent people of Pakistan but the ultimate way is negotations. They are ideological people and this is a fact that you cannot defeat them by force unless you will detach them from their ideology and local support.
an american drone killed him so deduction is qt simple : he was anti US and pro pakistan
He was more like pro-pieces of innocent people. good riddance.
IK is absolutely spot on. Glad to see at least someone has spoken openly about this. Waliur Rehman had a big role in the peace process, which was (unsurprisingly) sabotaged by US.
Sami Shah I remember this one time when my wife & I were arguing and Wali Ur Rehman reminded us about love and we all sang a song together.
hahahaha.. epic tweet.
By Pro peace IK mean he was favouring peace talk with pak govt !! USA is killing those taliban who favour peace talk !! if some taliban want peace talk govt should stat it now ! and USA must not sabotage peace process in pak !! taliban in afghanistan killed US forces why USA having talk with them there ???
Wish if people could read between lines. Some analysts had also said that Wali ur Rahman was in favor of Peace Talks with Pakistan Government and that's why Imran Khan called him Pro-Peace. The limitation of 140 characters in a tweet also has to be considered.
the man who gave up wali ur rehmans location was a TTP member. the americans were simply acting on that information. if you want to blame anyone, blame the TTP for his death.
Guys you are confusing this case, Wali ur Rehman is not one who is attacking your mosques, markets etc, These are some outsider agencies , using their name, agencies are portraying the whole situation, Get up, make your senses work, Ik knows that. That's why he called him pro peace,
Now we are going to see articles based on tweets......great.
And for the umpteenth time im glad i decided not to support him -_-
So if Taliban kill Pakistani Soldiers then it is a revenge from America according to Imran's theory??. What would Imran will have to say when if tomorrow the families of the dead soldiers will took revenge from these barbarian Taliban?
thats the reason we voted for you sir and PTi , we need peace in KPK
@Baloch insafian, The problem is, if your leader had declared him a butcher, you'd have defended that too, blindly.
Lets define who is a brutal killer, agent of external forces, and see how Wali ur rehman does not meet these definitions.
If he was so pro peace he wouldn't be blowing up schools and causing suicide blasts in our markets. If he couldn't have stopped them he would have atleast broken away from TTP. Also our soldiers were being killed by these barbarians before this drone strike and others before it. Stop being naive Mr.Khan
Walli-ur-Rehman was the one who united all the Talibans to have peace talks, so yes he was pro-peace!
