The incident took place when the jubilant Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers started aerial firing following Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s oath taking ceremony. The dead woman was identified as Mai Bibi, wife of Muhammad Murad Lanjvani, while the injured included Dur Bibi, wife of Khan Muhammad Lanjvani, and Jameela, daughter of Arsalan Lanjvani. Later, members of the Lanjvani clan staged a sit-in at Rahber Chowk which ended only after SSP Jacobabad Zafar Iqbal reached the spot and assured them of timely justice.
An FIR was registered by Mai’s cousin, Abdul Karim Lanjvani, against PML-N taluka president Arif Khoso, and others. No arrests were made till the filing of this report.
