NOWSHERA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief and Difa-e-Pakistan Council Chairman Maulana Samiul Haq on Thursday urged the new government to unite against un-Islamic forces which were depriving Muslims of their religious teachings.

Addressing a Dastar Bandi (graduation) ceremony at Jamia Haqqania Akora Khattak, the JUI-S chief said implementation of Islamic Shariah was a remedy for the country’s challenges: “The nation should stand for the cause by employing a peaceful, unarmed struggle.”

Sami added if past rulers had thought about protecting Islamic norms and values, people would not have to face the many chronic issues plaguing the country. “It is unfortunate our rulers succumbed to the pressure of foreign forces,” he added.

Sami also asked outgoing students to portray a soft image of Islam based on justice. Commenting on the current situation, Haq said the US had failed to tame fundamentalism and Islamic values in Afghanistan and would face the same fate in Pakistan and Iraq.

He said that new rulers should take stock of the prevailing uncertainty and take important decisions without fear or pressure from other powers.
