Labour welfare: EOBI seeks employers’ support

According to Zaidi, there are 5.5 million industrial and private sector workers who are registered with the EOBI.

Press Release June 05, 2013

KARACHI: Employees Old Age Benefits Institution Director General (Operations) Syed Iqbal Haider Zaidi has said employers should come forward to support EOBI and honour their legal and moral obligations for better welfare of the country’s workforce. He expressed these views during a visit to the SITE Association of Trade and Industry earlier this week. EOBI is playing a key role in providing pension-related benefits to the workers and their dependants in the shape of old-age pension, survivors’ pension, invalidity pension and old-age grants. According to Zaidi, there are 5.5 million industrial and private sector workers who are registered with the Employees Old Age Benefits Scheme and are getting various types of pensions after retirement. “EOBI has made arrangements to provide pensions to registered workers through branches of National Bank of Pakistan, mobile banking and easypaisa,” he said.

I'm constantly reading all above comments but still no body from government side is considering our genuine demand about increase in EOBI pension. Corruption is everywhere in EOBI and Chief Justice of Pakistan is required and requested to please favour us. Although yet I did not claim my pension due to serving overseas and hopeful to settle back soon. This is ironical to see the pension amount of SR 3,600? I would appreciate for a substantial increase in pension instead to use funds in corrupt practices by the management of EOBI.

I am requesting to the media, who is always raising the voice of deprived peoples, that kindly also raise the issue of EOBI Pensioners case. Increase in pension like other Govt. pensioners is also the right of EOBI Pensioners. Please take up the matter in your talk shows for justice.
