Rescue operation begins: Villages flooded as river changes course

Most of the villagers have started shifting to safer places along with their livestock.

UBAURO: At least three villages, Habib Chachar, Qaiser Chachar and Janan Chachar, have been inundated, while several others, including Mahar Chachar, Bahawal Chachar, Faisal Chachar and Haji Janoo, are at risk as water level of the Indus River increased in Qadirpur area of Ghotki district.

Most of the villagers have started shifting to safer places along with their livestock, while others have taken refuge on the rooftops of their houses. Sukkur commissioner Niaz Ahmed Abbasi and Ghotki deputy commissioner Fareed Ahmed Junejo directed the authorities to carry out an immediate rescue operation and advised the remaining residents to vacate the area.
