Bowing out: Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi resigns
Says new govt should have the chance to choose a governor of its own liking.

Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has resigned from his office.
According to sources, Magsi contacted President Asif Ali Zardari by phone on Sunday and asked him to accept his resignation. The Balochistan governor had earlier forwarded his letter of resignation to the president, they added.
Sources told The Express Tribune that Magsi maintained that the new government should be given the chance to appoint a governor of its own liking.
“The participation of nationalist parties in the elections is a positive step… the new government should include good governance in their priorities… hopefully it will make the situation in Balochistan much better,” they quoted the Balochistan governor as saying.
Magsi took oath as the Governor of Balochistan on February 28, 2008. He was appointed by then president Pervez Musharraf.
While Magsi has remained in office for the last five years, throughout the tenure of the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government, it should be mentioned that this is not the first time he has resigned from office. He filed resignation letters twice before, but they were not accepted.
