Roadside bombs: Six security officials injured in N Waziristan, Frontier Regions

A security official said the bomb was sophisticated, which is why security forces decided to detonate it.

Two security officials were severely injured when a improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a roadside exploded near a security forces’ vehicle on Bannu-Miranshah Road in North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.


A security official said the convoy was heading to Miranshah from Bannu when the incident occurred early morning near the Esha check post. The bomb detonated near the bomb disposal squad’s (BDS) vehicle, which was leading the convoy and clearing the road.

Following the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operations backed by helicopter gunships. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.

A curfew was imposed by the political administration in most parts of the agency from 7am while the Miranshah Bazaar and surrounding areas were closed.

In another incident, BDS officials were unsuccessful in defusing a high-intensity IED planted on the Bannu-Miranshah Road in the Frontier Region (FR)  Bakka Khel on Sunday.

A security official said the bomb was sophisticated, which is why security forces decided to detonate it. They took positions and opened fire at the bomb.

A search operation was launched following the incident.

Roof collapse

Four security officials were injured while repairing the roof of a check post in Sardi Khel area in FR Bakka Khel.

The incident occurred when the roof caved in. The injured were rescued from under the debris and taken to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
