Gas cylinder explosion: Mechanics burnt

Rescuers said they had to break the windscreen of the van to pull out the men.

BAHAWALPUR: Three mechanics sustained severe burns on Saturday after a CNG cylinder they had installed in a van exploded on the National Highway.

Darshan Laal, a resident of Roshan Bhait, Muhammad Ilyas, a resident of Chak 119P, and Muhammad Shahzad, a resident of Chak 117P, had installed a CNG kit in a Hiace van and had taken it for a test ride when the explosion took place.

Rescuers said they had to break the windscreen of the van to pull out the men, who were taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where their condition was later reported to be critical.
