ISLAMABAD:
In an apparent move to avoid further marginalisation of the party, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday announced to field Makhdoom Amin Faheem against Nawaz Sharif for the Prime Minister seat.

The decision was taken late Saturday night after the rejection of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) request of electing Sharif unanimously as it happened after the 2008 elections.

Earlier on Saturday, PML-N's parliamentary party officially nominated Nawaz Sharif for Prime Minister.

The election for the Prime Minister slot will take place in the National Assembly on June 5.
