Exploring parallel universes and layers of realities coexist, Sana Arjumand’s work will be put on display at Gallery6 on Saturday evening.

This will be a preview of her paintings that will be later exhibited in Sydney, according to a press release issued by the gallery.

Arjumand is a versatile visual artist who has gained worldwide recognition and captured a large audience in recent years.

Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward will inaugurate the show in Islamabad.

The talented artist’s new work is a powerful mesh of different mediums exhibiting strong concepts with fantastic use of colour. She has successfully managed to put relevant issues of our times in a visual vocabulary. Some of her work will be available for sale.

After graduating from National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore in 2005, Arjumand received local and global recognition after showing her work at various galleries and museums. She has held successful exhibitions, solo and group, the world over.

Her work has been reviewed by various art critics and magazines including Art Info Magazine, which placed her among the top ten emerging Indian and Pakistani artists.

Originally trained as a painter, she likes to experiment with different mediums such as digital prints, collages, large-scale oil paintings with splashes of tea and acrylic gel.

A post-modern artist, she works on concepts revolving around the present state of human existence. Her impressive artistic vocabulary expresses a sophisticated grasp on the subtleties of life, bringing a new insight to the mundane.

She has touched upon politically and religiously sensitive issues with a sense of wit. “Through wit I can speak comfortably about the most sensitive issues,” says Arjumand.

Her painting ‘Rich Man’ is a take on how money changes the way a person is perceived.

“After all, life is all about perception,” comments Arjumand. This new body of work depicts the power of human perception and the choice to choose to see what we want to see and how we want to see it.

She has a deep interest in portraying travelling to different realms, which she conveys in her work ‘Travelling to the Heart’ and ‘Ascension’.
