PTI officials said Imran was advised by doctors to not attend the NA session as the journey could prove to be detrimental to his health.
"Yes, Imran will not attend the NA session tomorrow," a senior official said.
PTI secretary information Shireen Mazari also confirmed the party chief's absence from the inaugural session.
The NA convenes on Saturday June 1, when the newly elected members of the Parliament will take oath.
Imran was ordered to take bed-rest after he fractured a vertebrae and a rib after falling from a hoist lifting him on to a stage just days before the May 11 general elections.
Imran had won from three seats in the elections, NA-1 Peshawar, NA-56 Rawalpindi and NA-71 Mianwali. Of these seats, Imran decided to forego the NA-1 and NA-71 seats.
