MQM's newly formed coordination committee decided to hold protests after four of the party's workers were killed on Wednesday. They said that workers were being picked up from different parts of the city, and then tortured in custody. The death of their worker Ajmal Beg has been called an extra judicial murder.
In the last 48 hours, the party has lost seven of its activists.
MQM leader, Khawaja Izharul Hasan during the protest near SHC claimed the party's official Twitter account has also been hacked.
According to officials, Altaf Hussain has asked his workers to be tolerant and not respond to violence at any cost.

Do migration, then call yourself muhajir, We Pakistani don't accept so called self claim.
whats happening what statehood , mohajirs just need equal rights , in all spheres of life , i am an MQM supporter and number of times MQM has refuted the claim of separate suba or state . If qouta system in education and jobs are removed and all postitions of administration is given on merit that is justice prevails , peace will descend automatically in karachi , why cant we have mohajir prime ministe , president , army chief(we had one who is now treated so shabbly people are hounding for his blood even though all parties have their inseption thru martial laws) we cant have chief justice nab chairman nothing of high importance , only we have a governor with very little control , why cant all those insafians talk about qouta system in sindh , okay if it is so good we can have it all over pakistan , like lahore , peshawar , quetta treated similarly as karachiites are .
@Omar: Thank you for the comment. I agree with you. I hope everyone was thankful for what they have been given. Sadly most Karachi people are blind. Its exactly as the saying goes, 'the grass is always greener on the other side!'
I find it ironic that killers and Kidnappers are protesting against killings and kidnappings.
@Ram Udhay.: LOLs my friend ! Lols !!
@aikpakistani Welcome back from a long slumber. MQM has been portesting for the rights of people and on their brutal killings. They have condemned each and every terrorist attack. They were the ones who protested on Hazara killings. They were among those who helped in rejuvenation of Abbass Town. And your policy is actually very dumb- be silent today because you have never spoken before? If this is so then all the parties are more or less the same. Do you remember any PTI dharna for these killings. Yah one i remember was for the murder of their own worker Zahra Aapa.
someone hacked MQM's twitter account? !! Quick call the Army ! Things just got serious
@Omar:
Nice Joke.. However You can not be a Muhajir...
Muhajir cannot be a chief minister of sindh and only Muhajir in whole Pakistan can take admission in engineering and medical universities on quota. WHY MUHAJIRS BEING TREATED AS NOT MUSLIMS AND SECOND HAND CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN. I think muhajir being killed to the point they should ask for FREEDOM from so called muslim state does not warranty the right to live with equality.
@Ram Udhay We know how happy you are there, changed even your name... huh!
The problem of Karachi can be resolved if the Govt is determined enough to take tough decision regarding elimination of armed wings of political parties. Until and unless strict measures are not enforced, Karachi will continue to bleed. Nothing is impossible. Where there is will, there is a way.
I am not pointing out some specific group or political party, because the problem is much beyond that. The time has come to rise above the political considerations and affiliations and take steps, which are unavoidable for restoration of peace and order in Karachi.
@Ram Udhay, I feel lucky that my parents & grandparents also migrated to Pakistan from India. We are much much better than the muslims in India. Although my grand parents lost all their properties in India but we (and most of mohajirs) are much better here. Pakistan gave us a lot.
PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!
Party cleansing anyone?
@Shoaib: This is the attitude that is bringing bad repute to MQM but it does not stop from issuing threatening statements and creating fear among citizens...
@Aysha:
It is not only the agencies it is also the internal policies that cause this sort of incidents, which would be avoided in the future hopefully with this newly formed Rabita Committee comprising of more sane persons this time.
Mer ker be na milla chain to kidher jaye gey Muhajir still muhajir in Pakistan after leaving U,P Bihar come back my brothers we in india still loves u.
I wonder if the shoe is on the other foot now. Killing of any one regardless who they are is a heinous crime and should be stopped by the STATE, and those who commit these atrocities should be brought to justice.Enough is enough.
If MQM workers killings don't stop, the MQM might go for the separation.....be careful establishment.
May no mother lose her Usman Ali.
Agencies seem to have an insatiable thirst for MQM young blood, they just dont seem to have enough of it
It's unfortunate but what about thousands of innocent people died in last few years? What about people dies today, yesterday? Why not protest against their killing? Why only when their worker dies? Are others are not human? If you voice against killings then do it for everyone?
