Fruits of hard work: 266 students awarded degrees

Graduating students at IMCG urged to work for the cause of women’s education.

ISLAMABAD:

As many as 266 graduate and postgraduate students were awarded degrees at a convocation of the Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) here on Thursday.     

At the 28th convocation of the IMCG, some 16 students received roles of honour for their outstanding performance in different examinations.

Aqdas Fatima, a student of Mass Communication, was awarded “Hamid Alvi Gold Medal” for securing first position in her master’s programme in the college and attaining fourth position in the Punjab University examination, 2011.

Saba Bibi was given “Azra Raza Excellence Award” of Rs 50,000 for securing a graduation degree with distinction in the Punjab University examination, 2011.

Vice Chancellor of the Fatima Jinnah Women University Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir, who was the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the students and admired the college for producing brilliant students consistently for the last 30 years.

She emphasised on women’s education saying women played a great role in nation’s building.



She advised the students to work for the cause of female education because “most girls still live in the darkness”.

IMCG Principal Firdous Fatima presented a college report and talked about curricular and co-curricular activities performed by the students throughout the term.
