State enterprises: Bosses of the loss-making firms face axe

Central leader of PML-N Ahsan Iqbal has said that superiors and executives of loss-making state-owned enterprises including Pakistan Steel, PIA, Pakistan Railways and National Shipping Corporation would be removed with an objective to end financial mayhem worth hundreds of billions of rupees.
“Applications for these apex posts will be advertised in the media by the new federal government,” Ahsan Iqbal told members of Lahore Economic Journalists Association (LEJA) here on Wednesday. Iqbal said that the new government would make every possible effort to mitigate the sufferings of people caused by power outages.
In this regard, short-term and long term measures are being taken, he added. He said that a five-year development plan for Punjab province was being evolved and all the future budgets of the province would be prepared in line with this plan. Ahsan Iqbal said that PML-N wanted to make Punjab an economic model for other provinces and the federation.
