LORALAI: Abdul Mateen Akhundzada the Provincial chief of Jamaat Islami (JI) Balochistan has confirmed that he had dispatched his resignation letter to the party chief Syed Munawar Hasan.

While talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said “I have tendered my resignation from provincial chief JI Balochistan office and it has been dispatched to the party’s central chief Syed Munawar Hasan”.

He said that he has decided to resign in protest against the ‘anti-JI’ rigging in general elections.

He alleged that rigging was carried out in polls to ensure victory of some candidates who were involved in heinous crimes such as kidnapping for ransom and other acts.

Akhundzada said that he was still a member of JI and would continue his affiliation with the party.
