LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday took notice of a report about gang rape of a mentally challenged girl in a Chiniot suburb.

The district and sessions judge concerned was directed to investigate the matter and submit a report regarding police action in the case. Muhammad Shahbaz told police that his sister had gone to get some medicine when Sarfaraz, a quack, took her to a deserted location where he and other men raped her. He said she was later found lying unconscious on a road. Shahbaz said the police had refused to register a case against Sarfraz.

The girl’s family had complained to the Chiniot district police officer. The DPO said he had ordered an inquiry into the matter.
