LAHORE:

A notice has been issued, for June 26, to the manager of an electronics shop in a Rs130,000 suit.

The petitioner is seeking damages for being sold a defective LCD TV that he says he had given for repairs but had not been returned.

Petitioner Azhar Hussain says that last year he had purchased the TV from the respondent, Dynsal Limited located in Johar Town, for Rs41,900 with a year’s warranty. The TV developed a fault soon after and he contacted the respondents who picked up the TV from his house and said that it would take 14 days to repair the fault.

He said he had then visited the shop and contacted the respondent several times asking about his TV but was not given a straight reply. He prayed that the court direct the respondent to repair the TV and pay Rs100,000 in damages and Rs30,000 in lawyer’s fee.

Manager of Dynsal Limited, Sajid Kazmi, told The Express Tribune that there was no truth to Hussain’s allegations. He said the warranty period had lapsed by the time the petitioner contacted them for repairs. He said they had examined the TV and had told him that the fault could be repaired for a fee, “but the petitioner went home”. Kazmi said they had called him more than 10 times, asking him to collect his television but he had not shown up.
