PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Shaukatullah Khan has summoned the provincial assembly session on Wednesday.

According to a handout issued by the Governor House on Monday, the K-P Assembly has been summoned for Wednesday at 10am.

The newly-elected members of the house will take oath during the session. The speaker, deputy speaker will take oath on May 30 while the  K-P chief minister will be elected and take oath on May 31.

In a meeting at the K-P Assembly Secretariat on Monday, attended by police, traffic police and secretariat officials, arrangements for the maiden session were finalised.

It was decided roads adjacent to the assembly premises will not be closed for traffic, as per wishes of the chief minister designate. The closure of roads leading to the assembly building on Khyber Road has been one of the leading causes of traffic jams during assembly sessions of the last government.

Security protocol was also finalised – cars will not be allowed to be parked inside the assembly premises. There will be no weapons permitted inside the building.

The newly-elected MPAs were also directed to keep number of their guests to a minimum. Special cards will be issued to visitors on the eve of assembly’s first session under the incoming government.
