Prime minister-in-waiting Nawaz Sharif has asked former Punjab chief secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa to assist him as the principal secretary to the prime minister, and has requested concerned quarters to issue a notification in this regard, The Express Tribune has learnt.
Party officials said a notification will be issued in the coming days. Khosa, who will retire in four months, will make bureaucratic appointments in the Centre according to his will. Nawaz has also asked Fawad Hassan to assist Khosa in appointing loyal and competent PML-N bureaucrats to important positions in the Centre.
According to sources, Khosa and Fawad were recommended by Shahbaz Sharif for the position. The two will not only report to Nawaz but update Shahbaz as well.
Khosa who belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) is from the 6th Common Training Program (CTP) and in Grade-22. Between 2010 and 2013, he worked as the Punjab CS. Hailing from Dera Ghazi Khan, he is the brother of former FIA DG Tariq Masood Khosa and Supreme Court judge Justice Asif Saeed Khosa. He is also related to PML-N Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa and former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa.
Khosa has also served in various other capacities in Punjab. Prior to his stint as Balochistan chief secretary, Khosa served the province in different capacities between 1979 and 1991. He is also part of the board of directors of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited. He has a fellowship in public administration from Hubert H Humphrey, USA.

@Asif Hussain
And on what bases are you saying that! Do you have any proof!! Or u just saying that because NS appointed him! Do you even know that NS was going to appoint Saeed as his secretary but then got advised against it because Khosa has a great reputation and does not compromise on his principles! Do you know why he was removed from secretary finance position? Because he refused to release controversial funds! WHAT proof do you have that he is "loyal" to a political party?? And if he is, how do u explain his exemplary career even in PPP's regime? Stop bashing for the sake of bashing! Mr.Khosa will work as the PM's secretary for 4 to 5 months, in which he will gather the best possible team for the PM and for OUR COUNTRY!
mr ali im nt talking about his monitotory corruption but im talking about his shift of loyalty from state to pol party that is in itself a type of corruption
@asif Hussain @ET
I challenge you both to come up with A SINGLE evidence that makes Mr.Khosa corrupt, non-professional or incompetent. I will pay you both 100,000 rs if you are able to dig any dirt on this man! And this isn't just any bet, I AM SERIOUS! find some dirt and get Rs.100,000. Otherwise, stop spreading dirt against honest people! You both should be ashamed of yourself, especially the ET!!
this is very true... great job manan.. u r unveiling the true faces of bureaucrats.. they have shifted their loyalty from state to political parties.. they just focus on parties interst rather than on national interest.. and no one is daring and dauntless like you to expose their true faces... keep on doing such excellently excellent excellency... hats off to you mr. manan
Loyal PML-N bureaucrats... very true. Bureaucracy is too politicized and knows how to get rapid promotions. Serve the king, not the state.
It seems NS is going in the right direction, I would advise him to post the daughter of Qaim Ali Shah in Islamabad, since she will again lose her posting after the PPP government takes charge.
ET this is bad reporting. Please do not become a Tabloid
Mr. Khosa is a well respected person because of his honesty and credibility. He has never been induldged in any scandal whatsoever and has performed his duties professionally with commitment. Just because this news paper is biast for pti, they are unable not to defame anyone. This appointment should be celebrated that pmln is appointing him on merit.
While everyone else is hailing the appointments for their honesty, this newspaper decides to discredit them. I have read some your articles and you seem biased against whatever PML(N) and leaning towards PTI. Shameful when media picks up sides. Give credit where its due..
Mr. Khosha is down to erath an honest, hardworking man. These brothers have nothing to do with politics, he is being offered very improtant task becuase he is capable person. ET should not relate him with other Khosa community, this man is different than other.
Central government = family business. others are only for vote.
Looks more loyal to PMLn than the state.....!!!
Very unprofessional reporting.
ET You are out of line to brand an honest officer as PMLN bureaucrat!!! Stop misguiding people! You should be sued for the way you have tried to link him with PMLN!! Shame on you! Instead of commenting on his honesty and loyalty to this country, you are busy spreading your own agenda!
