Roadside blast: Two soldiers injured in Bannu explosion

Security forces had imposed a curfew in the area due to the movement of their convoys into the FR region.

Two security personnel were injured in a remote-controlled bomb explosion in the Frontier Region (FR) Jani Khel, Bannu, on Sunday.



Malik Ihsanullah Khan, an official of the Jani Khel police, while talking to The Express Tribune, said that at around 8.00am, an explosion shook the limits of a police station in which two security personnel were injured. Following the incident, police along with security officials rushed to the site.

The official explained that security forces had imposed a curfew in the area due to the movement of their convoys into the FR region. Before the passage of convoys, two security officials were foot patrolling the road to clear it. However, when they reached Jani Khel Qilla area a roadside IED exploded near them in which the two, identified as Hawaldar Rab Naewaz and Shahzad, were severely injured.

The official added that after the incident security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. However, no one was arrested.
