Asif, Sajjad off to winning start in Doha

Pakistan cueists win their opening matches at 6-Red event.

Pakistan cueists Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sajjad were off to a bright start at the 2nd 6-Red Asian Snooker Championship, registering easy wins in their respective matches in Doha, Qatar.


In his Group A clash with Jordan’s Mohammed Khalid al Quraini, IBSF world champion Asif eased off any fears over his recent slump in form as he thumped his opponent 5-1. In his second match, Asif beat Iraq’s Ali Jalil Ali 5-1 as well.

Sajjad, placed in Group D, registered a comfortable win over UAE’s  Mohammad Shahab 5-1 before recording another win over India cueist Laxman Rawat 5-3.

Asif has been placed alongside Qatar’s Mohanna Obaidly, Jalil Ali and al Quraini. Sajjad is pitted against Laxman, Qatar’s Bashar Hussain and Shahab.

Pakistan will also play at the 2nd Asian Team Championship in which young guns Mohammad Majid Ali and Humza Akbar are scheduled to take part.
