DPO Dilawar Bangash was on his way to Kohat from Peshawar along with his escort when the convey was ambushed near Ghaziabad check post of Mattani on Indus Highway. Militants were equipped with RPG-7 rockets and they targeted two vehicles in the convey. The attack destroyed one vehicle completely and killed four policemen on the spot and left four others injured including Bangash and his driver.
The injured driver though was able to drive the DPO away and reach Kohat where both the injured were rushed to the Combined Medical Hospital (CMH).
A large contingent of police commandos was immediately dispatched to the area after the initial attack.
Militants though attacked another mobile, resulting in skirmishes between the two sides. Several people were injured in the second attack and there were reports that an armored personnel carrier of police was also hit by rockets. “The militants are dozens in number and they are well equipped they are trying to surround the entire police party and the situation is not very good,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity. He said that DPO Dilwar and his driver were injured but they had reached Kohat and there were many more casualties as an intense gun battle was still going on.
He said that the vehicle previously hit by rockets was still on fire on the road and police was trying its level best to repulse the militants so that they can shift their wounded and dead to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

The attacks on innocent civilians and security forces would be continued by the TTP to assert their superiority and getting their demands approved during the forthcoming negotiations with the civilian government. TTP demands are well known to all which may not be accepted resulting in more killings and military shall have to launch decisive operations if peace is to be restored in Pakistan.
@Ricky: I agree with you. You do need a real Army, whose job is to defend Pakistan and Pakistani lives. All nations-states have armies, you should form one immediately.
Shame that anyone would want to negotiate with these barbarians. They ought to be blown off our planet, simply said. My grief and condolences for the families of all our valiant police officers who have been butchered ruthlessly and with impunity, to all the innocent civilians who too have lost their lives and livelihoods, and let there be no forgiveness for these heartless, un-islamic criminals.

Most countries have small armies to keep their citizens safe from armed tyrants. I wish we could do the same by raising a people's army!

Dear Govt., of Pakistan,
Please stop classifying terrorists as good and bad (Talibans). Anybody who commits crime, should be punished. Our legal system does not prosecute criminals due to weak prosecution or backlash fear so the criminals feel stronger than ever. Please have some faith in yourself and take some action beyond taking notices.

No worries, talks with Taliban and begging them to spare our lives should solve this problem. If not then when we are all dead at the hands of Taliban then no doubt problem would be solved.
