Power bill default: Six govt depts disconnected

Disconnection of supply would continue till the submission of full payment of dues, says Fesco spokesperson.

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) on Thursday disconnected electricity connections of six government departments in the Faisalabad, Jhang and Bhakkar divisions for failing to pay Rs2.2 million electricity bills. These are: the Livestock Department (Rs560,000), the Irrigation Department (Rs112,000), railways (Rs590,000), the Health Department (Rs300,000), the Provincial Buildings Department (Rs18,000) and the city district government (Rs654,000). The electricity connections were disconnected on the directions of Fesco Chief Executive Officer Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan. Separate teams were formed for every division. Tahir Sheikh, a Fesco spokesperson, said that disconnection of supply would continue till the submission of full payment of dues.
