Mehanti said that his party has demanded re-polling under the army in all constituencies of Karachi due to the unprecedented rigging witnessed during the elections.
“We hope that the chief justice will take notice of the petition in the larger interest of the people of Karachi.”
He said that his party had been demanding deployment of army inside the polling stations from day one but the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not pay any heed.
Mehanti said that the chief election commissioner himself conceded his failure in holding transparent elections in Karachi. “If it could be held in 43 polling stations of NA-250 under the army, then why not in the entire city.”
